The Wayne R. Wilson Memorial Fund was established by his children after a tragic accident claimed his life. Family, education, and the cowboy lifestyle were the hallmarks of his life. His family always came first and he instilled life values into all of his children; hard work, independence, education, and
dedication were of the utmost importance. His legacy will live on in his
children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as these values he so proudly fostered in them
will continue to be shared from generation to generation.

To enrich the lives of young adults by encouraging
personal growth, and providing educational scholarships
for students majoring in Animal Husbandry.

Wayne R. Wilson was a very proud man
that could sit in a boardroom in his suit
and tie, or work the stables in his jeans
and cowboy hat, and feel right at home
doing both. Son, father, grandfather, and
great grandfather, Wayne was full of life
and loved riding his horses. His passion
for the cowboy lifestyle led him to the
rodeo, where his dedication earned him
the title "Rodeo Boss" as he was known
by cowboys and kids alike for many years.
He held this title with two organizations
that were close to his heart, “Cowboys
for Kids” and “Fiesta Days Rodeo”.
Tragically, on August 9, 2005, a flash flood
claimed Wayne’s life. While returning
from the Ferrier with his two horses,
rapidly rising waters of New River caught
the horse trailer, causing both truck and trailer to be carried away. The Rodeo Boss and his horses came to rest in the bottom of the wash. Heroic efforts by the Daisy Mountain Emergency Rescue Team saved the lives of his beloved horses. Unfortunately, the roaring water claimed the life of this great man.
The Wayne R. Wilson Memorial Fund provides educational scholarships to encourage young adults to further their education. Our father expected each of his children to further their education, and strongly encouraged each of us to require the same of his grandchildren. In his honor, and in the spirit of education, we would like to provide scholarships to students who are studying Animal Husbandry, to help offset the rising cost of education.
